Rhode Island Real Estate CE License Renewal Requirements
Salesperson or Broker

Twenty-Four (24) hours of continuing education. At least Six (6) of the hours must be in approved core topics.


Renewal Cycle: Every 2 years (even, by 4/30)

Inactive: No CE is required while your license is inactive. License must be renewed and renewal fee must be paid. There is no time limit on how long your license can remain inactive. You will need to complete your CE requirement if you want to return to active status.

Exempt: Licensees who hold a valid license originally issued prior to December 12, 1984 are not required to take continuing education courses for purposes of license renewal.

24 hours Salespersons or Brokers Renewal Package #1
This package meets the requirements for real estate brokers or salespersons. This package is approved for 13.0 Core Hours and 11.0 Elective Hours.

This renewal package contains the following 8 courses:

  2. Risk Awareness
  3. Disclosure Is Not A Secret
  4. Good Guys/Bad Guys - Who's Who in Mortgage Fraud
  5. The Law of the Land - Fair Housing
  6. Doing The Right Thing - The Code

  8. Property Management

24 hours Salespersons or Brokers Renewal Package #2
This package meets the requirements for real estate brokers or salespersons. This package is approved for 14.0 Core Hours and 10.0 Elective Hours.

This renewal package contains the following 7 courses:
  1. Disclosure Is Not A Secret
  2. Avoiding Common Mistakes
  3. Building Green
  4. Property Management
  5. Floods and other Natural Hazards
  6. Valuation, Marketing, and Listings
  7. Managing Conflicts with Tenants, Clients, and Employees
