Renewal Cycle:

Every 4 years from the licensed year on actual date licensed was issued

Inactive: No CE is required while license is inactive. CE must be completed to return to active status. License can only be inactive for 2 years from license expiration date, after that state exam must be retaken.

Exempt: 70/30 Continuing Education Exemption. Pursuant to Business and Professions (B&P) Code Section 10170.8, real estate licensees who submit satisfactory evidence to the Commissioner that they are 70 years of age or older and have been "licensees in good standing" for 30 continuous years in California are exempt from the continuing education requirements for license renewal. A "licensee in good standing" is one who holds an active license which has not been suspended, revoked or restricted as a result of disciplinary action. To request a continuing education exemption please contact DRE.

Roster Reporting Procedures for California

Upon completion of all the course steps, a certificate will immediately, and always be available for printing from your account.

The course completion certificate contains the course approval number and completion date which will be needed during the renewal process with the Department of Real Estate (DRE). The certificate is for your files and should not be mailed to the DRE.

Continuing education providers are not required to submit a course roster to the DRE.

To renew your license, you may use the DRE online eLicensing or submit your renewal application 90 days prior to your license expiration date. The course certificate we provide contains the course approval number and completion date which will be needed during the renewal process with the DRE. Your renewal is on-time if the eLicensing transaction is completed or your application is postmarked on or before midnight of your license expiration date. If you renew on-time, Business and Professions Code Section 10156.2 permits you to continue operating under your existing license after its expiration date unless notified otherwise by the DRE.

If you have questions about your real estate license, license requirements, continuing education requirements, or any applications that you have submitted to the DRE, you need to contact Licensing Information at Call Center (877-373-4542 for English, 877-373-4321 for Espanol); Salesperson Inquiries PO Box 187003, Sacramento, CA 95818-7003 or Broker/Corporation Inquiries PO Box 187004, Sacramento, CA 95818-7004.
