TX Real Estate License Renewal Brokers Sponsoring a Sales Agent

18 hours of continuing education. Courses must include:

  • 4 hours Legal Update I
  • 4 hours Legal Update II
  • 6 hours Broker Responsibility
  • 4 hours of Electives


Sales Agent or Non Sponsoring Broker

18 hours of continuing education. Courses must include:

  • 4 hours Legal Update I
  • 4 hours Legal Update II
  • 10 hours of Electives


TREC extending all applications and renewal deadlines for August and September license expiration dates. See TREC website for more information.

Renewal Cycle: Every 2 years from licensed year by the last day of the month licensed.

Special Note: A broker or designated broker who has sponsored one or more sales agents during their current renewal cycle must complete the 6 hour Broker Responsibility Course, even if they no longer sponsor any sales agents.

Inactive Sales Agent Licenses: A sales agent whose license is inactive who returns to active status, must complete the CE hours during the two years prior to requesting the active status. The sale agent must establish a sponsorship relationship with a broker through the online Relationship Management Tool (RMT) or file a Sales Agent Sponsorship Form through an active broker.

Expired: A sales agent whose license has been expired more than 2 years, must reapply for licensure. Please Note: If a broker's license expires or is placed on inactive status, all sales agents sponsored by that broker will be placed on inactive status.
