Tennessee Real Estate License Renewal Requirements
16 hours of continuing education. Courses must include:
- 6 hours TREC core
- 10 hours of Electives
Renewal Cycle: Every 2 years on date of original license issue.
Retirement of License: If you wish to stop practicing real estate for any reason, but do not want to give up your real estate license, you may place your license in retirement. In order to retire your license you must complete a TREC Form 1 and submit it to TREC along with any fees. While in retirement, you cannot participate in any real estate transactions; however, you may receive commissions from transactions completed prior to retirement. You must continue to renew your license and pay the renewal fee.
Expired: Is based on the length of time that your license has been expired.
Day 1-59: You will be in Expired-Grace status. At this point you will be able to still renew your license by completing your Continued Education and paying the appropriate fees. NOTE: Licensees in RETIRED STATUS will not be responsible for Continued Education during the renewal process.
Day 60-365: You will be in Expired Status but will still be eligible for reinstatement. This will require you to contact the Real Estate Commission Licensing Team requesting reinstatement.
1 Year +: You will be required to retest and reapply after requesting reinstatement of your license.
