Pennsylvania Real Estate License Renewal Requirements

PA Real Estate License Renewal Brokers and Salespersons

14 hours of continuing education. Courses must include at least:

  • 2 hours of Advertising
  • 1.5 hours of Property Management
  • 10.5 hours of Elective
Salespersons who are renewing their initial license for the first time are required to take special commission developed modules.


Renewal Cycle: Every 2 years (even years) by May 31st of the renewal year.

Inactive: No CE is required while your license is inactive. If your license is currently inactive or expired, you have five years from the date of inactivity or expiration to reactivate your license without taking the licensing examinations. Additionally, a licensed broker or salesperson who wishes to activate a license that has been placed on inactive status shall be required to document 14 hours of continuing education. Per Section 35.382(b) of the Regulations, continuing education that is used to reactivate a license cannot be used to renew the license during the same renewal period. An additional 14 hours of continuing education will need to be completed prior to renewal.

Roster Reporting Procedures for Pennsylvania

Upon completion of all the course steps, a certificate will immediately, and always be available for printing from your account.

Real estate continuing education providers are not required to submit course completion information to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission. Instead, licensees are required to keep records of their own continuing education hours, and will be "required to submit paper documentation if the licensee is chosen for a CE audit.
