RI 3.0 hours The Code of Ethics - Course Syllabus
3.0 Core Topic
The preamble to The Code Of Ethics has many aspirational concepts that serve to motivate and encourage REALTORS® to achieve higher standards of professionalism while serving the best interests of the public. The main concept of the preamble to The Code Of Ethics is to adhere to the Golden Rule.
The aspirational concepts associated with the Preamble include:
Willingly share the fruit of your experience and study with other REALTORS®.
Identify and take steps to eliminate practices which may damage the public, or which might discredit or bring dishonor to the real estate profession. Urge exclusive representation of clients.
Do not attempt to gain any unfair advantage over competitors.
Refrain from making unsolicited comments about other practitioners.
If an opinion is sought about a competitor or the REALTOR® believes that a comment is necessary, the opinion should be offered in an objective, professional manner.
The Preamble underscores the common obligations that REALTORS® share in terms of their personal conduct as real estate professionals. Service to the public is fundamental to the inspirational and aspirational concepts outlined in the Preamble to the Code of Ethics.
