Course Syllabus:

4.0 Elective Hours

REALTORS® have a duty and obligation for proper accounting, which is found in Article 8 referring to escrow funds and Article 9 requiring REALTORS® to put contracts in writing and provide a copy to all parties.

The duty of reasonable care and diligence to all parties is found throughout the Code of Ethics. Article 1 requires REALTORS® to treat all parties honestly.

Standards of Practice 1-10 states REALTORS® shall competently manage the property of clients with due regard for the rights, safety, and health of tenants and others lawfully on the premises.

Standards of Practice 3-9 governs access to listed property.

Standards of Practice 9-1 states for the protection of all parties, REALTORS® shall use reasonable care to ensure that documents pertaining to the transaction are kept current.

Standards of Practice 9-2 states when assisting or enabling a client or customer in establishing a contractual relationship electronically, REALTORS® shall make reasonable efforts to explain the nature and disclose the specific terms.

Article 11 states the services which REALTORS® provide to their clients and customers shall conform to the standards of practice and competence which are reasonably expected in the specific real estate disciplines in which they engage.

After completing this course, you will be able to describe the fiduciary duties of accounting, reasonable care and diligence owed to clients and customers, as required in the Articles and Standards.
