  • Mandatory Topics: 3 CE hours
  • Electives: 9 CE hours

When does Connecticut Real Estate CE have to be completed?

Brokers

All continuing education (CE) hours must be completed by August 30 of even-numbered years. Note: This CE completion deadline is 3 months before the renewal deadline.

Salespersons

All continuing education (CE) hours must be completed by February 28 of even-numbered years. Note: This CE completion deadline is 3 months before the renewal deadline.

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess credit hours will not be carried forward.

What is the Connecticut Real Estate license renewal process?

License Renewal is due every year. The deadline to renew a Broker License is November 30th each year. The deadline to renew a Salesperson License is May 31 each year. The state sends renewal notices approximately 30-45 days prior to the expiration date of each license via email or regular mail. Note that continuing education must be completed prior to every even-year renewal.

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the course is completed. The licensee must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her file for 4 years.

What are the Connecticut Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

As a licensee in another state, you may submit certificates of completion for CE completed for another state's license to the Department for consideration toward equivalency credit for only the elective portion of the CE requirements.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Connecticut CE requirements:
  • Individuals who passed a Connecticut licensing exam during the CE period.
  • Individuals serving in the military on active-duty.
  • Individuals who are physically handicapped which handicap prohibits them from sitting for an exam or attending courses.
