3.0 Elective Hours
Since January 1, 2001, all REALTORS® have been required by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) to complete some degree of ethics training. The focus of this training is based on the REALTORS® Code of Ethics and its practical application to everyday real estate practice by NAR members.
New members or prospective new members of the National Association of REALTORS® are required to complete an orientation program on the Code of Ethics of not less than 2 hours and 30 minutes of instructional time. Boards/Associations are required to provide such program to new members/prospective new members either on their own, in conjunction with other Boards/Associations, or through some other method (such as home study, correspondence or internet based courses).
A REALTOR® who has completed a Code of Ethics Orientation under this policy shall not be required to complete any further Code of Ethics Orientation courses should the REALTOR® apply for membership in another Board/Association However, if a new member/prospective new member has not held a membership in any Board/Association for more than one year, the Board/Association to whom the new member has applied shall require that new member to complete the Code of Ethics Orientation.
This course is designed to meet the requirements of New Member Orientation Program, and Quadrennial REALTOR® Ethics Training as found in the NAR Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.
